During a recent radon mitigation project, our team used the home’s existing sump pump as the main suction point for the Active Soil Depressurization (ASD) system. This approach works beautifully in many homes because the sump pit connects directly to the space beneath the foundation—allowing the system to draw radon gas out efficiently before it can enter the living areas. By using the sump pump as the suction point, we were able to install the radon system neatly and effectively without drilling additional holes in the concrete floor.
To ensure the system operates safely and maintains strong suction, we sealed the sump pit with a clear, removable Lexan cover. This keeps the vacuum tight while still allowing easy access for maintenance if needed. The end result was a clean installation that looks great and performs even better—reducing the home’s radon levels to well below the EPA’s recommended action level. Using a sump pump for an ASD system is one of the most efficient ways to protect your family’s health and improve your home’s air quality.

"Extremely Prompt and Professional! Responded quickly to the request, set an appointment for the very next day. Arrived on-time and texted me 30 min ahead of time as I requested. Upon evaluating existing passive equipment, the job was lower than the initial estimate provided. Highly recommended!"

"Spoke directly to Ed, the owner, who gave me a quote on the spot after a few questions. Had an appt within a week of calling, at my convenience. Installer was pleasant and professional. Called a couple of other companies who either never called back or who decided my oddly laid out basement ( part full, part crawl, part addition with dirt floor) was something they didn't want to deal with. Ed was confident they could do the job, and did!"

"Very prompt and even my realtor said she had never seen one done so neatly. Less than two hours to complete. Would definitely use NE Radon again."

"NE Radon Doctors were amazing. They did a wonderful job, very fast and super clean. Cannot be happier. Also, our radon levels dropped significantly. Thanks a lot!"

"Timely, courteous, meticulous, all around a good experience."

"This was not my first home sale, I was selling the house, buyer did a radon test - NE radon doctors offered a competitive rate and was quick to help - but the gentleman that showed up to do the install was a real professional, represented the company well. I will sell other homes and every home in the valley has radon, I know I will use them again."
